EI 90 Doors Palais Schwerin in Berlin
In the heart of Berlin, on the historic Molkenmarkt opposite the Nikolai quarter, is the baroque Palais Schwerin, one of the oldest surviving town houses in the city. Originally built after the city fire of 1690, it was acquired by Otto von Schwerin in 1698 and renovated between 1702 and
Remodelled in baroque style by Jean deBodt in 1704.
Over the centuries, the history of the palace's use changed dramatically: from tobacco administration to court and prison to police headquarters and furniture store in the 18th/19th century. Between 1937 and 1938, the building was largely gutted as part of the new Reichsmünz buildings, but the historic façade was preserved and two side wings were added in an oscillating fashion.
For us, this architectural jewel was both an incentive and a challenge: we planned and manufactured a double-leaf EI90 fire protection door in a faceplate design made of high-quality wood - precisely tailored to the requirements of the listed building. State-of-the-art fire safety meets historical authenticity. This is how we combine tradition and technology in Palais Schwerin: fire protection at the highest level, embedded in a listed building with over 300 years of history - a real highlight of our references.
