F30 fire protection

Secured by standardised regulations

Components are classified according to their Duration of resistance to fire into different Fire resistance classes categorised. In Germany, this classification is based on two authoritative standards. On the one hand, the national, older standard DIN 4102-2 with the title „Fire behaviour of building materials and building components; components, terms, requirements and tests“ and on the other hand on the European standard DIN EN 13501-2, which regulates the „Fire behaviour classification of construction products and types of construction - Part 2: Classification using the results of fire resistance tests, with the exception of ventilation systems“.
In test procedures according to DIN 4102-2 or after DIN EN 1363-1 („Fire resistance tests - Part 1: General requirements“), the respective fire resistance class must be indicated by corresponding Fire resistance tests must be verified. The fire resistance classes according to the European standard are more complex structure than the previous national regulation. It should also be noted that the European standard is gradually replacing the German standard has.
Our F30 fire-resistant windows for outdoor use were therefore recognised in accordance with European regulation tested. The standard DIN EN 13501-2 regulates not only the classification, but also the Designation of fire protection elements. Accordingly, an F30 fire protection window with an opening sash is now considered a EI₂ 30 S₂₀₀₀ (Sa) C2 fire-resistant fire protection window with opening sash labelled.

How is the F30 (EI30) fire protection window constructed?

We use special fire-resistant glass from certified glass production for our F30 fire-resistant windows. This fire-resistant glass contains colour-neutral fire protection gel, as this gel has virtually no inherent colour, resulting in the best light transmission values. The glass panes are also characterised by their special chemical and physical composition. F30 fire-resistant windows are fire-resistant windows. They prevent fire flashover and thus keep escape and rescue routes clear. They therefore play an important role in border or corner buildings. The use of F30 fire-resistant windows is specified in the respective state building regulations. In principle, the following applies: If a window is to be installed in a required fire protection wall, this project can only be realised with a fire protection window. An F30 fire protection window does not necessarily have to be used. Fire protection windows F60 to F90 can also be used. The professional installation of an F30 fire protection window must be proven to the building inspectorate by a declaration from the installing company. We work with many specialised companies throughout Germany that can provide professional installation of F30 fire protection windows. Incidentally, if you stumble across the term „F30 fire protection class“ in your search for the perfect window, you can equate it with the term "F30 fire resistance class".

Fire protection F30 means in fire resistance
safety determined by the

It is important to know that the number after the code letter F the Fire resistance duration in minutes is specified. This time is always rounded down to the next lower value divisible by 30. According to this definition, the fire resistance class means F30, that a fire protection window F30 is a Tested fire resistance duration of 30 minutes has to be maintained. During this period, the window must fulfil its essential functions such as Load-bearing capacity, room closure and smoke tightness fulfil reliably. As soon as even one of these functions is no longer fulfilled, the fire resistance of an F30 fire protection window is considered to be no longer guaranteed.
In addition to the F30 fire-resistant window, there are other window classes with a fire resistance duration of 60, 90, 120 or 180 minutes. The designation of a fire protection window F30 in accordance with the EU standard can be explained using a specific example. The following window is considered EI₂ 30 S₂₀₀₀ (Sat) C2.
The component EI₂ indicates that during the fire test the thermocouple is placed at a distance of 100 millimetres to the edge was measured. The labelling S₂₀₀ describes the smoke permeability at elevated temperatures and, in the case of the aforementioned F30 fire protection window with opening sash, indicates a Smoke resistance up to 200 °C to. The additional designation Sat refers to the smoke tightness of Ambient temperatures. The concluding part C2 describes the number of self-closing cycles, which the openable fire protection window fulfils, whereby this class for 10,000 locking operations stands.

Our range includes F30 opening fire-resistant windows

Openable F30 windows are now an integral part of modern fire protection solutions. We manufacture F30 fire protection window with One or two opening sashes. Depending on the application and after appropriate design testing, the following are also possible Three-panelled F30 fire-resistant windows realisable. In addition, our fire-resistant fire protection windows with different Mullion variants, couplings and double-sash forend available.

The elements used can be used both as Self-closing opening sashes as well as Cleaning sash be executed. Couplings are in connection with Fixed glazing at the side, bottom or top possible and are carried out according to the general type approval Z-19.14-1833. The glazing can be Double or triple ISO glazing and is also optionally available with Special glasses like P4A or P5A safety glass and with Sun protection glazing from the Sunbelt series A40, A50, A60 and A70 available.

The current Maximum element size for double-sash windows 2,700 × 2,770 mm. The Maximum active leaf can be up to 1,300 × 2,700 mm, the Maximum passive leaf up to 1,400 × 2,700 mm be executed. The currently permissible Maximum sash weight lies with 240 kg, where larger weights are already taken into account in the planning phase.

F30 fire protection for windows - should they be able to be opened?

Our F30 windows can be opened. In principle, however, fire-resistant F30 windows must be self-closing due to their protective function. Exceptions are fire-resistant F30 windows that are used exclusively for cleaning and maintenance purposes. F30 fire-resistant windows that can be opened by means of a hold-open system and close automatically in the event of a fire, thus ensuring a tight seal, have also been tested in Europe. Movable, self-closing fire-resistant glazing generally does not have a tilt function. This is only permitted in individual cases for fire protection purposes. For this reason, self-closing fire protection windows F30 can generally only be realised with side-hung sashes.

F30 fire-resistant windows can also be made of wood

F30 fire protection made of wood resists flames much better than you would expect. The frame of the F30 fire-resistant windows chars first in the event of a fire and thus provides additional resistance. We have been able to test the resistance of softwoods (e.g. pine) in our own fire tests. F30 fire-resistant windows with wooden frames can withstand temperatures of up to 200 ℃. They remain stable for longer and smoke less. If the heat becomes so strong that panes burst, wooden frames also provide protection here. Panes in wooden frames burst much later than glass inserted in plastic frames, as they deform from a temperature of 110 ℃. As a result, the pane has less grip, breaks and at the same time allows more oxygen into the room. This additionally fans the flames.

F30 windows that fit perfectly into your room design

Our F30 fire-resistant windows provide effective fire protection that you can't see from the windows. They integrate completely into the existing surroundings. Our F30 fire protection windows adapt almost invisibly to your spatial conditions. Adaptability was and is important to us, because fire protection should protect you without being intrusive.

We manufacture windows with F30 fire protection according to your requirements

We manufacture your F30 fire-resistant windows from timber or timber-aluminium materials. Numerous variants are possible in production. These also include side panels and fanlights. The variant with glazing and element coupling, for example, is possible in an unlimited width. As always, if we know what you need, we will realise it for you. We are also flexible in our choice of materials. Regular fire tests in various testing institutes in Germany help us to make progress with alternative types of wood and minimised profile cross-sections. The advantages for you are that you experience fire protection for windows in a new way and have more room for manoeuvre when selecting the materials used.
